Darlington Market is excited to host its annual Christmas Market in the town
Is that the pitter patter of tiny reindeer hooves I can hear? That can only mean one thing, Santa is on his way to Darlington Market for Darlington’s annual Christmas Market and the big Christmas light switch on and he is bringing with him a sack full of surprises!
Christmas celebrations start early on the 22nd November – approximately 30 additional stalls will line High Row, West Row, Horsemarket, Blackwellgate and Darlington Indoor Market Hall. Be dazzled by the sights, smells and sounds as Christmas comes to life, you will not want to miss out.
If you are searching for the most perfect gift, then the Christmas Market is the place to be. You will be able to browse a variety of stalls including unique crafts, mouth-watering hot food, local produce, delicious sweet treats and after all that you will be able to put your feet up and enjoy Christmassy drinks at the Market’s outdoor bars.
We are particularly excited to see: Le Mini Macaron, Wiltshire Chilli Farm, Inspired Chocolates, The Little Coffee Company and Codrophenia who all attended our World Food Day specialist market that was held in town last month.
The day doesn’t end there. See your children’s eyes light up as Santa makes a special appearance in the evening from 6pm to turn on the Christmas lights in town!
You will have a chance to visit the Christmas Market between Thursday 22nd and Sunday 25th November between 9am and 5pm, so be sure to get your skates on as this will be the only time the Christmas Market is in town.
While here you will want to visit the Indoor Market traders, here you will be able to pre-order your Christmas Turkey and sliced meats, pick up chutneys and jams, browse one-off gifts, buy a selection of cheeses and purchase wrapping ahead of the big day!
Alex Nicholson, the Market Manager, said: “We aim to provide Darlington with a comprehensive list of leisure activities. We are particularly excited to be holding a Christmas Market this year and believe that this will bring footfall back into the town centre.”
Darlington Covered Market sits in the heart of the town and will benefit from a multi-million-pound investment. It will remain sympathetic to its Victorian heritage but will transform into a 21st century retail destination based on the already excellent fresh food offer with a more cosmopolitan feel. It will blend its reliable and dependable value for money shopping tradition with an afternoon/evening family based leisure experience.
