Market Asset Management (MAM), the operators of Darlington Markets and the historic market hall in the heart of Darlington, launched two new markets in Darlington last year, the monthly Farmers Market and the Pease Pudding Night Market during the spring and summer.

The summer months saw the new night market take over the market square one a month, attracting families and visitors into the town centre, where they enjoyed mouth-wateringly delicious street food while live music and street artists entertained them.

With support and input from Darlington Borough Council and the Town Centre Events Team, the Pease Pudding Night Markets grew from strength to strength over the year.

MAM’s Pease Pudding Night Market was chosen by NABMA (the National Association of British Markets Authorities) to win the Best Small Speciality Market 2020 Award, fighting off strong entries from events across the country.

We are proud of the work undertaken by our team to make the Pease Pudding Night Market a safe, fun and enjoyable summer event, and would like to thank Darlington Borough Council for working in partnership with us to deliver an award-winning market.

MAM Director, Hayden Ferriby said “The concept of creating a night market in the town centre was an exciting project, we are very pleased by the response from the visitors enjoying this new event. Our team here at Darlington are looking forward to delivering more dates for 2020.”

The markets team have programmed an exciting range of returning and new events for 2020. The aim is to continue developing the markets offer for the town and Tees Valley. Adding some more creative events such as a Wool Fair and Art Market.

The next new event is on 29th February with a Wool Fair, with the Farmers Market restarting after the winter break on Sunday 1st March 2020. Returning again with regular dates also include the Vegan Markets and Record Fair and the 3rd Food and Drink Festival 1-3rd May 2020, which won an award at last years awards day.

We look for locally and regionally based traders for our events to ensure they keep the events varied and support our local economy and businesses. Anybody looking to start out in a new business should consider market trading, as a great way to connect with customers and launch their products at our events, getting in touch with Darlington Market is the first step to a retail business.”
