The award-winning Darlington Food and Drink Festival returns in May. A selection of the region’s finest food producers will showcase their culinary delights in the town centre. Sample delicious foods, pick up tips from food demonstrations and feast on world foods from street traders.
Following the success of last year’s festival which brought thousands of people into the Town Centre, we are excited to announce the return of the Darlington’s Food and Drink Festival which will coincide this year with the Jazz Festival, so Town is sure to be busy! The Food and Drink Festival 2018 won NABMA’s award for Best Food Market, and we are excited to build on this in 2019.
Friday will be a warm up day for Caterers, setting up from lunchtime in Market Square, and the Festival will get in full swing from Saturday-Monday along High Row and Blackwellgate.
We want to make sure the Festival focuses on Darlington businesses, and are keen to have as many of you involved as possible.
Please read on for some ideas of how to get involved, and if you have any other suggestions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Last year we were pleased to see local businesses take up the opportunity to use the demonstration kitchen to promote their business.
Demonstrations included cocktail competitions, Battle of the Burger, How to Cook the Perfect Sunday Roast and Burrito Wrapping. These were a great opportunity to showcase to the people at the Festival the specialities of your business.
There is no charge for doing a demonstration, but we recommend you book a slot as soon as possible so as to not miss out! Demonstrations should last between 30-45 minutes and will run from 11am-4pm daily.
